Centrifugal vs Masticating vs Triturating Juicers

They are also fast at juicing although this comes at the price of losing some vital nutritional content. These juicers are also not very capable of juicing leafy greens.

Masticating Juicers


Masticating juicers are newer juicers which use a single metal auger which is a screw-like gear to chew and press fruits and vegetables. Like other juicers, masticating juicers also have a feed chute from which to insert fruits. Juice is continually extracted into a container while the pulp is automatically dumped into another container. Masticating juicers are slow juicers, also known as cold press juicers, and juice at low RPMs.
Masticating juicers prevent oxidation and avoid the use of heat in the extraction of juice. These specially crafted features help retain most of the nutrients in juices and make them last up to 36 hours. They can juice vegetables and leafy greens very effectively as well and can also process other foods like nut butter and baby food. However, cold press juicers are more expensive than centrifugal juicers. They are also harder to put together and clean.

Triturating Juicers


Triturating juicers are the latest in juicing technology and have two augers which separate the juice in two stages. In the first stage, the fruits and vegetables are crushed. In the next stage, they are pressed to separate the juice and the pulp. This two-step process makes the extraction of nutrients like minerals, vitamins, fibers, and enzymes more effective.
Triturating juicers are also designed to slow down and avoid the oxidation process making the juice last longer. They extract more and finer juice and can be used to juice vegetables too. Like masticating juicers, these can also be used to make other food products. However, triturating juicers take up space and are expensive.
